2023 BMW 7 Series: Choosing the Right Trim

The BMW 7 Series is all-new for 2023. The German luxury brand’s flagship sedan has a new look inside and out, innovative new tech features, and an all-electric variant for the first time.

The 7 Series competes primarily with other full-size luxury sedans. Its top rivals are the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8, and — lớn a lesser degree — the Lexus LS and Porsche Panamera. The electric i7 is a closer competitor lớn the Mercedes-Benz EQS, Tesla Model S, and Lucid Air.

Let’s look at the model range for the new 7 Series and find the right luxury sedan for you.

2023 BMW 740i (starting price: $93,300)

In base trim, the new BMW 740i is still supremely luxurious. Power comes from a 3.0-liter mild-hybrid twin-turbo inline-6 engine. It’s rated at 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Power goes lớn the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

A lengthy list of standard features and a starting price under $100,000 make the 740i the value choice in the 7 Series lineup. Standard features include adaptive LED headlights, an Interaction Bar with touch-sensitive controls, heated, power-adjustable multi-contour front seats, 4-zone automatic climate control, a Panoramic Sky Lounge LED roof, Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound audio, adaptive two-axle air suspension with electronically controlled dampers, and the M Sport appearance package.

The standard iDrive 8 infotainment system has a curved display that you can control via touchscreen, voice control, an iDrive controller, steering wheel buttons, or gesture control. The Live Cockpit Plus provides a digital gauge cluster that seamlessly flows into the large infotainment screen, creating a high-tech, connected driving experience. A head-up display is also standard.

Standard driver assistance and safety tech features include full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, front collision warning with city collision mitigation braking, speed limit info, evasion assistant, a safe exit function, and a reversing assistant.

On top of the generous standard features, the 740i has many option packages and individual options available. Options include the Executive Lounge package adding power reclining back seats, Extended Merino leather upholstery, open-pore wood interior trim, massaging and ventilated front seats, an Executive Package adding various luxury features, and more.

When you add the $995 destination fee, the starting price of the 740i goes up lớn $94,295. With a 60-month loan at 3% interest with no trade-in or down payment, the 740i would start at about $1,694 per month. See 2023 BMW 740i models for sale

2023 BMW 740i includes:

Mild hybrid twin-turbo inline-6 — This strong engine produces 375 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, and we expect it lớn return pretty good fuel economy thanks lớn the 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

Live Cockpit Plus — A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster seamlessly integrates with a 14.9-inch infotainment screen lớn create one beautiful curved display.

Panoramic Sky Lounge — This standard feature gives the 7 Series a panoramic sunroof and adds LED ambient lighting with a light show replicating the quilting pattern on the seats.

2023 BMW 760i xDrive (starting price: $113,600)

The biggest reason lớn nâng cấp lớn the 760i xDrive? Extra power. And all-wheel drive (AWD). Under the hood lies a 4.4-liter mild-hybrid twin-turbo V8 producing 536 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Like the 740i, it employs an 8-speed automatic transmission but with standard AWD.

On top of the engine nâng cấp, additional standard features include ventilated front seats, Integral Active Steering (4-wheel steering), a heated steering wheel and armrests, and extended Merino leather upholstery.

One of our favorite options is the Autobahn Package, which improves comfort and performance with active roll stabilization. This package improves agility and steering response while reducing body roll.

If you purchase a 760i xDrive with no money down on a 60-month loan at 3% interest, expect lớn pay about $2,059 per month, including the $995 destination fee. See 2023 BMW 760i xDrive models for sale

2023 BMW 760i xDrive includes:

Mild hybrid twin-turbo V8 — This V8 produces 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, giving this luxury sedan more muscular performance. It rockets from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds.

All-wheel drive — The xDrive AWD system comes standard, and it improves grip in spirited driving and traction on snowy roads.

Extended Merino leather — The 760i xDrive has a more premium interior than the base trim with more upscale materials.

2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 (starting price: $119,300)

2023 BMW i7 xDrive60
The 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 starts at $119,300.

The BMW i7 xDrive60 is the first all-electric 7 Series. It uses dual electric motors producing 536 hp and 549 lb-ft of torque. There’s no official EPA rating yet, but BMW predicts an all-electric range of about 300 miles on a full charge.

The i7 has many of the same comfort, convenience, and tech features as the 760i xDrive. Additional standard features include multifunction rear seats with digital touch-control panels on the rear door trim, a model-specific climate control unit with efficient heat pump technology, an Iconic Sounds Electric system, automated charging profile settings, and charging-optimized route planning in the navigation system.

One unique feature is adaptive recuperation, a sophisticated form of regenerative braking. It automatically optimizes brake energy regeneration based on the road situation using data from the navigation system and the sensors from the driver assistance systems. The result is maximum energy captured from the brakes lớn improve the car’s range without any extra effort from the driver.

As the most expensive variant of the new 7 Series, the electric i7, with the $995 destination fee, starts at $120,295. (That’s before any federal or state incentives apply). Financing that amount with no money down for 60 months at a 3% rate means payments of about $2,162 a month. See 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 models for sale

2023 BMW i7 xDrive60 includes:

Dual electric motors — The electric powertrain in the i7 produces 536 hp and 549 lb-ft of torque giving this luxury sedan a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. It also comes with electric AWD.

Multifunction rear seats — The back-seat passengers in the i7 enjoy power-adjustable seats with touch control panels on the door trim.

Adaptive Recuperation — This innovative feature automatically applies regenerative braking based on data from the navigation system and the car’s sensors lớn maximize range.
