  1. Every one talks about the vulnerability of the oil filter but I have NEVER EVER heard of someone damaging one.

  2. Brill I'm having one I'm in the UK got a bmws1000r, but need something easy to ride in all weather's. Just message a bloke looks like I found one 3500 quid 19000 miles Happy days full adventure pack and skid pan

  3. Very good review you hit it on the spot i have a 2013 vstrom 650 with 31000 miles and love it . just change oil and routine maintenance and GO…… DEPENDABLE …..

  4. Yes i love my 650 v-strom 2012 mod. ..;-)

  5. v.good review and straight forward..thnx Scott..
thinking to get my first Adventure bike..and confused between new KLR or used 2013 VStrom with 7k on odd.

  6. Hey man I just wanted to let you know that I watched this video a few years ago and I've had my sights set on the vstrom ever since. Tomorrow (6/9/2016) I go to pick up my 2016 vstrom 650 abs!!!

    Thanks man!

  7. Is the side luggage easy to take off.

  8. Good review! Could this be the best motorcycle in the world, taking into account value, performance, comfort, reliability, and versatility?

  9. this review was one of the reasons I chose to buy a v strom after passing bike test at age 53. Fantastic revew and equally fantastic do it all bike.

  10. The best v-strom 650 review, I've ever found.

  11. Fuel mileage I rode back from Daytona to Jacksonville (full gear) and burned 1/4 tank. AMAZING! that's over 100 miles!

The brakes are only weak on dirt at high speed.

  12. I own one and I absolutely Love it. The engine doesn't perform like a 650, I'd probably dare to say more like an 800. I know it does really well on the street but how much better do you think it would've done with off road tires?

  13. Man your review video is so awesome I keep coming back again and again to watch it. I hope you don't mind if I refer to your video in a blog I'm writing about the top motorcycles in each class?

  14. Great video Scott and extremely helpful.  I'm considering either trading in my Roadstar for a V-Strom 650 or just adding it.  Regardless, I have no desire to take this bike through the obstacles you successfully navigated, but it's great to know it could.

  15. Great review !!! I have put some 5000 miles on my 2013 and totally share these findings. It's a great bike and after riding a number of 'bigger' bikes this lightweight gives me back the feel of freedom. The Electra is collecting dust since I bought the Strom…
What a relief to hear the engine sound instead of crap music on this video: thanks !

  16. I'm in my second season of riding a 2012 DL650A.  It's mostly a street bike with ability to take off road but not serious off road.  I've taken it down fire roads in forests, gravel roads, and dirt roads full of ruts without problem but guys who like to hop logs and bounce off of rocks would not use a bike like this.

I wanted a travel bike that is comfortable on highways but can be taken for a bit of adventure off road…it works beautifully for that type of riding.

  17. Excellent review that touches on all the points I've been thinking about. Thanks!

  18. What would your thoughts be between the 650 and the 1000?

  19. Thanks for making this video, I'm in the market for a new bike and loving this for the practicality.

  20. Where did you get the skid plate to protect the oil filter?

  21. This video was super extremely helpful. Thank you so much!

I've never had a bike and I'm looking to get my first bike. I've been eyeing this bike for a while. I'm still saving up to get it but I think I'm decided on this one. Thanks again for the awesome and extensive video review!

  22. fantastic review. good stuff. thank you.

  23. Great audio, really good, blow MCN away, thank you

  24. I want a woods camping bike that I can carry water, extra fuel, food, tent and extra clothing . I weigh 265# at 5'11". I haven't ridden my 250 Yamaha Enduro for 32 years as a teenager. Would this bike be better for me wanting to get back into dual sport than a Kawasaki KLR-650? My local dealer is pushing me to get the V-Strom, but, I'm looking at price too. I'm fat, but, agile.

  25. Yep, Love mine,   Thanks for the review!

  26. Sir, good review of this bike, thanks.

  27. Nice vid, I'm thinking about getting one.  +10 for the TAD gear too.

  28. Test rode this at my local Suzuki dealer a month ago. Gave it back after a mere 10 miles because the brakes were RUBBISH! I had to squeeze the front brake with all I had to make it stop! The suspension is budget to say the least, the setup is for street and it is too low and heavy for anything more than a flat gravel road IMHO. The only good thing about the 650Strom is that perky and smooth V-Twin. If you consider 50/50 Adventure touring, get a KLR650, Yamaha XT660Z or BMWs 800GS. The Tiger 800XC is also not bad…..

  29. Very cool video. Great presentation and really informative.
